Halloween

>> Saturday, October 31, 2009

Patrick and Ella went to school on Friday in fancy dress for Halloween, and then they went round the street on Saturday night.  Megan took them round this year – I normally do it and I was glad to let Meg take over!!  Ella sang “Caledonia” in every house – she sings it great.

Patrick’s Birthday

>> Thursday, October 29, 2009

It was Patrick’s birthday today – he got the new Celtic strip.  It is called the bumble bee.  I will put a picture on and you will know why!!  Michael and Eddie were over for dinner (Jean was through in Edinburgh watching Nicole and Jamie).  Dinner was Patrick’s choice – steak pie.  Fiona, Gordon, Laura and Craig came round to see Pat and had a wee glass of wine.

Michael Brawley Big Band #2

>> Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Was having a listen to the Big Band recordings from Renfield St Stephen’s, this morning and noticed there is another video made by someone else.  Taken from the back of the room, so a different perspective.  It is also the first 2 tunes they played –while we were still waiting on our Cheese Toasties from the cafe!!

Brawley Big Band – Cardiff Recording

>> Monday, October 26, 2009

image In April the Michael Brawley Big Band were invited down to Cardiff to the National Finals of a Big Band Competition.  They won the Scottish heat in November last year.  The recordings from the heat can be listened to here.  One of the guys in the band had got a copy of the recordings from the final.  You can hear the judges comments through the tunes, but it is quite interesting.  The band won a Silver Medal in the finals.

Pat was playing football this morning – up at the school for 8:45.  They won 3-1.  The rain came on heavy for the second half and by the time we were home we were both freezing!!
After a quick bath to heat up, we all jumped into the car and headed up to Glasgow.  The “Michael Brawley Big Band” were having a concert in Renfield St Stephen’s and we were going up to see them.
The band were magic – really, really good.  I had the camera and tried to video them.  It is really jerky, but you get the idea.

Mikie’s Photos

>> Friday, October 23, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, Mikie brought his camera to the Pollock Park Run and as well as taking pictures of the runners, he took loads of pictures of the kids.  You can see all his Parkrun pictures at the Parkrun website –> click on Event 43.
He sent me his pictures of the kids today.  He manages to get some crazy expressions onto their faces!!  My favourites are below, and you can see them all here.  Ella had a few spills on her bike and instead of seeing if she was ok – he was sticking the camera in her face!!DSC_6309 DSC_6218

Rory over for a visit

>> Sunday, October 18, 2009

Rory, Siobhan & Stuart were over at Jean & Eddie’s for a visit.  We nipped over for an hour to see how Rory was getting on.  When we arrived he was stuffing his face with breadsticks dipped in hummus.  He is coming on great.

Ski School

>> Friday, October 16, 2009

The kids were on holiday this week.  The girls were booked into ski school, and Patrick was doing Grom Camp (ski school for people wanting to learn tricks and jumps!)

Patrick was there the full day Wednesday and Thursday with Luke and they loved it.  I went to pick him up last night and he was sliding along rails, doing 180’s – both fakie and switch with grabs.  He was telling me this in the car on the way home – no idea what he means!!

The girls ski school was every morning from Monday until today.  Rebecca and Zoe were doing it too.  They have come on great – the wee ones don’t even think about what they are doing, just head on down!!  Great skills – I hope we can get a few weekends up at Aviemore this winter!!

On the last day they have races to show off their new skills and I went up with the camera.

Pollok Park Run

>> Saturday, October 10, 2009

DSC_6052 Pat and I were running in the Pollok Park Run 5k this morning.  The weather wasn’t too bad, so Mo. Meg and Ella came along too.  Dad came in on his bike and Mikie was supposed to be running but he didn’t feel great, so he came in with his camera and took some pictures.

Pat was great – we started off at quite an easy pace, but when we got to the foot of the first big hill, Pat shot up it, leaving me about 20m behind for the rest of the race.  Pat got his best time so far – 26:50 (98/178) and I got 27:02 (102/178).

Camera Club Competition #1

>> Wednesday, October 07, 2009

First competition of the year is tonight.  I like Pat playing basketball, the old petrol pump, and the park in the rain, but I am not feeling too confident.  Will let you know.

Results are in …

I got 10th for “Patrick Playing Basketball” in the colour prints.  There were 35 entries, so I was quite pleased.

Red Sky at the Science Centre” got 5th in the Digital, out of 53 entries – not bad.

Nothing in the Black and White.
